~ Welcome to Chrysalis Homes ~ Chrysalis Society operates support recovery homes for women. Women come to our programs when they want to participate in a path of abstinence. We provide women-centered services and consider women's use of substances may be a way of coping which eventually diminished her power, choices and abilities. We work from an empowerment approach where women are encouraged to find and use their voices in achieving their interests and deepening their path of recovery. While you are at Chrysalis Homes you can participate in the program which best fills your needs.
~ First Stage Program ~ The length of stay is based on your needs. You are encouraged to consider your recovery goals and over time decide how long you will stay at New Dawn. For the first 30 days while you are involved in the Stabilization Period, you are encouraged to relax into the house. Become acquainted with the atmosphere of calm and quiet. Some women find the calm and quiet refreshing; some women find it frightening depending on the levels of chaos women are leaving before arriving at New Dawn. You are encouraged to address any health concerns. When we are in active addiction we neglect our bodies and our health. At New Dawn women will be attending to outstanding health concerns, the ongoing detox process, as well as, eating healthy food and drinking water regularly. You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the house while developing a routine of self-care. Self-care is the practice of identifying and attending to your physical, emotional and spiritual needs. In short... taking care of yourself! We encourage you to put outside relationships in perspective while you continue your commitment to your personal journey of recovery and abstinence. You will begin developing relationships with the other women residing at New Dawn as well as women living at New Day and alumni. You will begin developing relationships with the staff. The staff is here to assist you as you become orientated to the New Dawn house and program. Please approach them with your concerns, questions and if you want to talk. Group is at the centre of the New Dawn program. You will become familiar with the group process facilitated by qualified counsellors. One on one counselling helps you to work on issue's that arise in the moment. You will be participating in the communal living by attending to the needs of the house through completing your daily chores. All of these activities are designed to assist you in making the transition from substance use into your personal path of recovery. Each woman's journey towards inner knowledge and empowerment is an individual one, which is self-defined and done at her own pace. The Chrysalis Society programs provide a safe place for learning, self-care, skill development and growth. Chrysalis Society does not define a woman's recovery path. We recognize there are many paths to healing. We wish you well!
